About You

You’re a self-starter with experience of managing and maintaining highly available Internet-facing systems, at home working closely with developers in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.

Requirements

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience
• At least five years systems administration experience, preferably in an Internet/mobile environment
• Expertise with as many of the following as possible:
  • Linux (or other Unix) administration
  • MySQL configuration and administration
  • NoSQL databases (preferably Cassandra)
  • Cloud hosting (preferably Amazon AWS)
  • Configuration management (preferably Puppet)
  • TCP/IP networking and tuning
  • IT security management
  • Web server management and optimization (preferably nginx)
  • Scripting languages, e.g. bash, Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Administering and configuring Internet applications (preferably PHP /Java)
  • Deployment management
  • Mobile Internet applications
• Conversational Spanish, French or Japanese an advantage but not a requirement

Responsibilities

• Support, monitor, maintain and develop the Hailo infrastructure hosted on cloud platforms, including Amazon AWS
• Participate in the out-of-hours support rota
• Work with the development team on implementing processes, optimizing applications, sizing hardware, etc.
• Build and manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers
• Ensure the security of Hailo’s systems and data
• Ensure the integrity of Hailo’s data and backups
• Capacity management and planning
• Document system configuration, processes, procedures, etc.
• Support internal office IT systems and users
